Ethernet Over Superfast Broadband
This is lowest cost solution for an uncontended dedicated data service. This is only available when FTTC has been enabled in your local Cabinet. It will give you speeds of 20Mbps in both directions and will burst up to 80Mbps.

Ethernet over copper:- EFM (Ethernet First Mile)
When you want to up your internet speed, Ethernet First Mile (EFM) helps you keep costs down.
It is an affordable way to advance to a high capacity connection without committing to a full fibre Ethernet system. EFM provides the identical upload and download speeds, which today's businesses need to support VoIP and other hosted solutions.

As our EFM solution uses fewer copper pairs to deliver the same service as BT, we can offer it at a lower price and without any speed or quality reduction.

Our Ethernet over copper (Ethernet First Mile - EFM) solution gives flexible data connectivity from a choice of 2 or 4 copper pairs. These deliver a minimum symmetrical speed guarantee. The maximum speeds are:

  • 2 copper pairs delivers speeds up to 10 Mbps
  • 4 copper pairs delivers speeds up to 20 Mbps

By pairing in this way, our EFM service brings you a resilient Ethernet connection and, if one pair fails, service continues with the other. This is an ideal alternative when ADSL is not appropriate, or you require a fast and reliable service beyond broadband's capabilities.

For those businesses without a Fibre Ethernet connection into their building, EFM is very cost-effective as its construction costs are significantly less. Our solution doesn't require ADSL modules, micro-filters or interface cards. Instead, it can simply be plugged straight into a firewall or other Ethernet device (Internet facing service only).

Sermo Telecom can also supply a fully managed router and/or firewall solution creating a one stop shop for your internet connection.

Ethernet Over Fibre
For those organisations needing really fast internet connectivity we offer an Ethernet over fibre solution.

Ethernet is ideal for businesses who need to move huge amounts of data seamlessly and speedily. It is also the perfect choice for those who want to access high quality voice, data, video and cloud-based services.

Ethernet over fibre delivers connections from 10Mbps to 10Gbps. It is cost-effective with a single converged connection for voice and data that's compatible with your router and other such equipment.

Sermo Telecom can also supply a fully managed router and/or firewall solution creating a one stop shop for your internet connection.

Enabling your system to evolve
Our Ethernet over fibre solution enables a long term evolution of your system. It can be delivered in scalable 10Mbps increments from 10Mbps up to 100Mbps, and from 100Mbps increments up to 1Gbps. These allow you to build in flexible capacity for any future expansion.

Speed and security
You will gain a dedicated, reliable connection with unlimited use - one that is backed up by a core network that has a 99.997% service level agreement (SLA) and a 600-strong UK based team providing specialist support. Access to this team is available 24 hours, seven days a week.

The secure nature of this solution means it is ideal for businesses of all sizes and models - whether stand-alone or part of a MPLS in organisations operating over multiple locations or territories.

MPLS Networks
An MPLS network is ideal for organisations operating across multiple sites and remote workers, wherever they are across the UK or globally. It's a great solution for those businesses who need a secure way to connect their various sites for high-volume data transfer.

Sermo Telecoms approach to MPLS Networks is fundamentally different to most other ISPs and offers you many technical advantages, above all stability and reliability.

Other ISPs, whilst building the MPLS core on their own network, invariably provide connectivity via multiple vendors, such as BT and Cable & Wireless. This enables them to source the lowest cost connections at each location, but hops and points of failure can often occur as one network links to another.

Cost-efficiency here doesn't always bring service quality and many customers who migrate to us do so because they're fed up of outages, delays and single points of failure on their MPLS which are difficult to pinpoint and rectify.

A different approach
At Sermo Telecom we offer a reliable solution. Our MPLS Core and all our clients' sites (including the hosted Data Centres) are contained within a single Tier 1 network provider - the TalkTalk Business NGN Next Generation Network. This network can boast no service-affecting outages in the core for the last ten years and offers the most advanced and reliable technology.

Reliability and prompt response
Your co-location hosted equipment is located directly within the core of the MPLS network to ensure there are no hops between networks. TalkTalk Business is currently the only provider to offer true quality of service for ISDN and SIP voice solutions. If a fault occurs there is no division of responsibility between network providers as everything is located on one single network. Fault resolution is acted upon straightaway and TalkTalk's SLA criteria are stringently adhered to.

Whilst we can substantiate the core's resilience there is always the possibility of issues at individual sites (a worst case scenario being a workman digging through cables out in the street). Our service is fully managed by TalkTalk in conjunction with our Support Centre at Eastleigh (open 24 hour 7 days a week). This Centre monitors the network and deals with all first line queries. In most cases when an issue occurs they are already working on it or have resolved it... often well before you were aware of any problem.
