Ethernet Over Copper

Our Ethernet over copper (Ethernet First Mile – EFM) solution gives flexible data connectivity from a choice of 2 or 4 copper pairs.  These deliver a minimum symmetrical speed guarantee.  For maximum speeds:

• 2 copper pairs delivers speeds up to 10 Mbps
• 4 copper pairs delivers speeds up to 20 Mbps

Resilience

By pairing in this way, our EFM service brings you a resilient broadband connection – should one pair fail service continues with the other.   It can cope with any volume of users in an organisation and is an ideal alternative when ADSL is not appropriate, or an organisation requires faster and more reliable broadband connectivity.

Cost-Effective

EFM is cost-effective for those businesses without a fibre Ethernet network in their building, as its construction costs are significantly less.  It doesn’t require expensive ADSL modules, micro-filters or interface cards.  Instead, it can simply be plugged straight into a firewall or other Ethernet device (Internet facing service only).

Alternative uses

Users gain a symmetrical service with 100% dedicated bandwidth where performance is not affected by other people using the same exchange. We also offer a guaranteed 7 hour fix in the rare event of a complete service failure.  In fact some of our clients have used EFM as a backup circuit for their Ethernet over fibre circuits too. We can even provide EFM as part of a private MPLS network for companies with multi-sites, locations and territories.
